With a D12 visa, you can
- Visit for pre-investment activities or to start a business and invest, including field surveys or feasibility analyses on the business or investment you are interested in.
- Visit tourist spots and see friends and family.
Visa type
The D12 Visa is a visitor visa that allows for multiple entries to Indonesia. It provides an initial stay permit of up to 180 days, beginning from the date of arrival. This stay permit can be extended, but it cannot be converted into a temporary stay permit.
Length of stay
- You can stay in Indonesia for up to 180 days, starting from the arrival date.
- You can extend this stay permit once for a total stay of up to 12 months (1 year).
- Your sponsor can extend your stay permit online through the sponsor’s registered account at evisa.imigrasi.go.id.

You need a sponsor to apply for this visa.
Visa application
Sponsors must have an account at evisa.imigrasi.go.id before applying for a visa for foreigners. After having an account, the sponsor can submit electronic files for the D12 visa application, including:
- Application letter and sponsor’s statement letter
- Travel document valid for at least 6 months
- Proof of living expenses in Indonesia (bank statement in foreigner’s or sponsor’s name for last 3 months, min USD 5000 or equivalent)
- Recent color photograph (Details)
- Curriculum vitae
- Travel itinerary
Specific requirements
A letter of information, invitation, or correspondence from a government agency or private institution explaining the relationship with the foreigner concerned.
Other provisions
- Foreigners without citizenship or holding travel documents (temporary passports, emergency passports, etc.) must attach a Re-Entry Permit and a return/onward ticket.
- The visa is valid from the date of issuance until the specified expiration date. If unused, a new visa application is required.
- Foreigners with a D12 stay permit are not allowed to sell goods/services or receive salary/compensation in Indonesia.
Visa application and granting process
At the Directorate General of Immigration, the officer will:
- Check your documents
- Verify your immigration fee payment
- Create your profile in the system and verify
- Approve your application
- Issue your visa
Processing time is five working days after visa payment is received.
